Quickly back on track after a breakdown

Helping truck drivers get back on the road as quickly as possible after a breakdown is crucial, as time is money, especially in the transportation sector. Commissioned by the Nijmegen based communications agency, Gloedcommunicatie, I, as a freelance UX/UI Designer, designed the new website for Breakdown Service. This roadside assistance service operates throughout Europe and specifically caters to the transportation sector.

Platform Objective

The goal of this platform is to enhance Breakdown Service's online service, allowing drivers and transport companies to efficiently utilize its services. BDS has partnerships with local service companies across Europe and aims to expand its network through this portal. Additionally, the website serves to attract new clients, particularly transport companies seeking quick assistance in case of breakdowns.


The Challenge

The existing Breakdown Service website primarily served a promotional purpose and wasn't designed for clients to digitally access its services. Requests for assistance were handled over the phone, despite increasing demand for digital interaction from clients. Alongside significant functional upgrades, the website's appearance needed refreshing to meet the growing need for digital engagement.


Our approach

Through user research, brainstorming sessions, and best practices, I swiftly designed an effective and user-friendly platform that enables Breakdown Service to promptly assist its clients.

The homepage provides visitors with comprehensive information about BDS (Breakdown Service). Here, visitors can learn about BDS and its various services, as well as how to become a client or partner with their service company. This page offers an overview of BDS's offerings and provides clear instructions for potential clients and service partners. Whether you're an individual driver seeking roadside assistance or considering partnering with BDS as a service company, you'll find the necessary information to start your journey with BDS.

Service Overview Page

On the Service Overview page, visitors will find a comprehensive list of all the services BDS offers. Here, you can explore the various services available to precisely meet your needs, from roadside assistance to additional services. This overview is designed to provide a clear understanding of BDS's extensive service offerings.

Service Detail Page

The Service Detail page provides an in-depth explanation of each specific service. It offers detailed information on the features, benefits, and operation of the service. Users gain insight into how the service is executed, the steps involved, and how it addresses specific needs or issues.

Breakdown Reporting Page

If a driver needs assistance from BDS, they can click the "Report Incident" button, which is accessible through a sticky component at the bottom of the screen. Clicking this button redirects users to the reporting section of the website. By filling out a form step by step, relevant information is conveyed to BDS's central system. This allows BDS to dispatch the appropriate assistance based on the provided details.

Peroration

For Breakdown Service, it was essential to take a significant step in optimizing its online service, which naturally came with various challenges. Breakdown Service doesn't offer a standard product but delivers tailored services to its clients. The results and reviews following the launch of the revamped platform were exceptionally positive.
